If you've heard of XML, and you know how to spell it, but not much else about it, this session is for you! We'll take a look at the XML language - what it looks like, how it is used, some examples, and the reasons it is so useful. We'll do a survey on related technologies: Document Type Definitions (DTDs), XML Schema, Extensible Stylesheet Language (XSL), XPath, Web Services (SOAP, UDDI, WSDL), and others. We discuss how these are used in e-business solutions and integration, and why. We'll also have a look at the other XML and Web Services sessions at the conference, to help you decide which ones you want to attend. When you leave this session, you'll understand the terms, the basic concepts, why XML is so important today, and where it's headed tomorrow. |
