. To be agile in today’s business environment, every knowledge-intensive
organization faces the challenge of handling and sharing mountains of
content in electronic documents. The plain and classical "folder-in-folder-infolder"
mindset for a basically hierarchical order of content at the workplace
cannot cope sufficiently with the networked structures of a multidimensional
world. Nor does one-dimensional tagging, even if rendered in fashionable
and attractive tag-clouds, provide an effective working environment for
multidimensional and highly dynamic information sets of today's business
environments.. Corporate knowledge and content management is in a state of steady
evolution to cope with increasing demands on just-in-context and just-intime
knowledge tagging and collaboration. In this evolution, the architecture
of tagging must accommodate to multiple users in multiple roles of multiple
business units and a vast variety of business contexts, in-and-outside of the
organization. The presentation proposes a practical approach of addressing
these challenges with semi-structured tagging design, multidimensional
categorization, sharing and security management within corporate
environments. The presentation is complemented by life demonstrations of
tools, both for rich client environments and rich internet application
environments.. |
