Suzanne Minassian; Sunil Hiranniah / 21.01.2007 14:00:00

In this session, we'll present an overview on what a portal is and cover some common ways portals are used. We'll cover what portlets are and what tools are available for building them, including tools for Java developers as well as tools to build portlets without deep Java skills. We'll talk about what inter-portlet communication is and why it matters. Also covered will be the credential vault security model for portals and the JSR 168 portal standard. We will also highlight what the benefits of using a portal are, including role based provisioning, collaboration, and business productivity through portal tools for managing process, content, and performance.
