The seminar will cover conceptual as well as practical aspects of current developments in information technology (IT) for e-business applications. Especially, the importance of collaborative environments and tools for enabling people to effectively perform their tasks in business processes is focused.
Three areas of information system design are highlighted: Workflow Management, Portal technologies, and Knowledge Management. The Groupware Competence Center (GCC) at the University of Paderborn, Germany, has performed basic research, prototype development, and industry cooperation in these IT-areas during the last 12 years.
Prof. Nastansky will discuss main results of GCC's research and project experience from a practical point of view. Furthermore, many software applications will be demonstrated. These range from latest innovative prototypes out of GCC's laboratory, to industry strength applications jointly developed and brought to the market with partners in software industry and business.
