Kai-Uwe Maetzel is member of the Eclipse architecture team and lead of the Eclipse Text and Editor components including the JDT editors. Eclipse is an open source platform for building tools for developers.
The platform was designed from the ground-up with extensibility in mind. At its core is a scalable plug-in mechanism and a rich set of published Java APIs. This enables developers to write new tools quickly without having to start from scratch and is considered the most significant reason for the increasing recognition of Eclipse among tool developers.
Prior to Eclipse, Kai worked on "IBM VisualAge Micro Edition" being responsible for the team programming client components (TeamStreams) and the editors. Kai is with Object Technology International working in Zurich.
